Nine amino acids long, it crosses the blood-brain barrier and shows up in studies of EEG delta-wave activity, circadian rhythm modulation, and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis response under stress.
Despite the name, what DSIP actually does in vivo remains an active research question.
